Trichiasis

This term describes one or more misdirected eyelashes which usually results in ocular irritation. The eyelashes may grow backwards because of a local distortion of the lash follicles eg secondary to scar tissue from previous eyelid trauma or surgery, or there may be a partial or complete inward rotation of the lid margin (entropion).
