Ocular hypertension is the term given to the situation of a constantly elevated IOP but no identifiable optic nerve damage or visual field loss. Studies suggest that people with higher IOP’s eg 27mm of Hg are at a greater risk of progressing to glaucoma than those with more modestly elevated IOP’s eg 23mm of Hg.
